This municipality in the AxarquÃa also treasures interesting archaeological remains, such as the Phoenician tombs in Sierra del Rey or the Roman mosaics in Villa de Auta. Neolithic and Bronze Age remains appeared in the Gomer pit and in the CapellanÃa hill.

Riogordo is an obligatory stop on the Oil Route and the AxarquÃa Mountains. The objective of this itinerary is to make known the customs and traditions of the towns that make it up, and to disseminate the properties of verdial olive oil. The route runs through the municipalities of alcaucin, farnate, alfarnatejo, Apiary, La Vinuela, Periana y Riogordo.
